“I am the Bread of Life,”

08-11-2024Weekly ReflectionFr. Fred Adamson

Dear Parishioners,

Jesus tells us, “I am the Bread of Life,” revealing that He is bread from heaven. It is hard to believe but it reveals a core attribute of God who has created us in love; He desires to always provide for us. He desires to save us, to heal us, to strengthen us and walk with us on our journey. The Eucharist reveals God’s providential love. He provides us with all we need to walk on our faith journey and while for some who may feel abandoned or alone – we can be confident that He is with us.

As Catholics, all we need to do is walk into a Church to be reminded of His Real Presence in the Eucharist as He is reserved in the Blessed Sacrament. In our Church, we are blessed to have the oratory- a place to pray with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. A place of rest and peace in Him; a place to get away for a brief period and to soak in His love and grace. We also have Adoration with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Wednesday starting at 3:00 pm and finishing up with the Divine Mercy devotion and Benediction which starts at 6:00 pm and finishes around 6:45 pm. Prayer and time with the Bread of Life, the Eucharistic Real Presence of Jesus, is a great way to open your heart to His grace. No matter what is happening in our lives, or the world, we can be confident that God gives us His Son. He is with us – He provides

This Thursday, August 15th, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – it is a Holy Day of obligation. Meaning a day of great importance for us to come together as a community to honor Mary by our presence. Think of it as a special day in the life of the family and one we would never think of missing because of our love for her and her son, as well as the gift of being together as a people in one voice and one heart. It truly is an opportunity, more than an obligation, to give praise to God for a gift of our Spiritual Mother, Mary. Masses will be at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm and we look forward to being together to honor Mary and to thank God.

As our young people are returning to school, we too are preparing for the startup of our religious formation for them. Our program for K-8 includes classroom time, opportunities for family formation and community growth in our knowledge and love of Jesus and His Church. Signups are happening now so be sure to register. Let your friends know about our community and what we offer. Sharing the faith happens through invitation, relationship and is one person, one family at a time. Share your joy.

For our High School young people, we are planning a kick-off in September. There will be more information to follow. Because family is important, we are working with parents of teens to put together a year full of opportunities to connect to Jesus through service, community, study and time spent together. Watch for more in the upcoming weeks. We hope every teen and family will engage this year to deepen their relationship with Christ and His Church.

Remember always to be joyful Christians in the World. We have a savior, we have been saved. His truth is what sets us free. May the gift of the Bread of Life, the Most Holy Eucharist provide the deep source of true peace, joy and strength in our lives.

Peace in our Eucharistic Lord,

Fr. Fred
