Dear Parishioners,
This Mission Impact Report is provided to you out of a spirit of gratitude. A parish is a group of Catholics who come together to form a community. First, to worship God on Sunday for Mass, but then to make an impact in the greater community through Christian service and witness. It is important that we as a parish look back in gratitude and look forward in hope.
Take time to read through this report and see the lives that are being touched because of your engagement and your support of the mission. As pastor, I am privileged and honored to teach, sanctify, govern, facilitate, empower, lead and inspire this community to better know the love of God, the saving grace of Jesus and the great power of the Holy Spirit. I remind you as fellow parishioners that we do not do it alone, we do it Together in Christ.
This report provides data about many different aspects of parish life. How we worship and pray, how we grown and learn, and how we are called to serve. I have been amazed at how many ways the love of Christ is evident in the life of this parish community and has been over its 30 year history. The Holy Spirit is alive and moving.
We are blessed to have an active and engaged Pastoral Council - who have, in a special way, been committed to evangelization, formation and engagement. Much focus this past year has been spent on a spirit of welcome and hospitality. This year, we are working on formation and learning. The gift and use of our mind is one that can truly enrich the heart. I am grateful to them for their, “roll up their sleeves and get it done” approach. As a people of God, we are called to belong to a community and to grow together in faith. We are blessed in many ways.
You will also find the financial report for the fiscal year 2023-2024 that was completed on June 30th. I am grateful to the Parish Finance Council for their guidance and counsel that has led us to a positive year-end budget. Of course, that is because of your generosity and commitment to the community and our mission to share the Gospel of Jesus. In addition to the operating budget, we have raised monies for various local charities, the Charity and Development Appeal and our Capital Campaign - Building our Spiritual Home. There is information about all of them in the pages that follow. The fiscal management of the parish and good stewardship of the gifts given is important. I am grateful for your generous participation in the financial support of your parish and your continued commitment.
Over the next two weekends, I will share more about our parish and mission. I will invite you to make a commitment to worship, learn, serve and support our parish mission. As we grow stronger in our lives as committed faithful Catholic missionary disciples of Jesus, we can trust that He will provide strength and grace for the journey. Through good times and challenges, this is our spiritual home. A place of renewal and refreshment in Jesus.
As I share the first impact report with you as pastor, I am filled with gratitude for many things but, most importantly, gratitude for being on the journey of faith with all of you in these times God has placed us here at Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Parish.
We do not do it alone. We do it Together in Christ!
Peace and goodness,
Fr. Fred
