Trinity Sunday

06-15-2025Weekly ReflectionFr. Fred Adamson

Dear Parishioners,

This weekend is Trinity Sunday. We focus on God as a Trinity of persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The early Church struggled with the understanding and definition of the Trinity. Over time it has been clarified and defined but still remains a mystery. What I think is important is that God is a God of relationship by the very way the Trinity is revealed as three persons – one God. Each individual but one. This means we can know God as a person in three different ways. As God the Father, the one who creates, loves and continually chases after us.

As God the Son, Jesus, the one who forgives, reveals God’s mercy, kindness and care; the one who desires to be our friend and accompany us on the journey. As God the Holy Spirit, the one who stands beside us, provides us strength and guidance, moves us to live the Christian life. I encourage you this week when you make the sign of the Cross in prayer to really thing about each one – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and how they desire to be one with you. It is a true blessings to enter into the love of the Trinity – one God – three persons.

This weekend, we also celebrate Father’s Day. A day to give thanks to the men in our lives who have provided fatherly care and love. I know I have been blessed with a wonderful Father and many other men, uncles, mentors, and friends who have truly helped me grow as a man of faith. It is time to give God thanks for these men and to think of the best way to honor them. I know for my dad, it was always to be a person of service and love. To represent the family well in the world we live in. His face always lit up when someone would speak of how any of his children helped others, served in some way or made a difference in the life of another. This year will be tough not be able to give him a call and wish him Happy Father’s day. But I join many others who realize while our dads are no longer with us here in this life, they never leave us because of the love they shared. Happy Father’s Day to all the men who show such love and care to the people around them. I give thanks for my own father, my brother, my brother-in-law and all the wonderful, generous, caring men of this parish. May God’s blessings be poured upon all the men in our lives.

As we hit the middle of June – we can be assured that triple digits will be with us for a while now. I want to keep reminding you that this can be a time to read and grow in your faith. There are a lot of amazing video series in our FORMED library through the Augustine Institute. It is completely free to parishioners and there is always information in the center page of the bulletin where we keep all opportunities for spiritual and intellectual growth as Catholics. I want to suggest you find one video or series this summer and take time to watch it. We recently did the Divine Mercy series hosted by Fr. Michael Gaitley and it had a great impact on the trip to Poland. It was a great mix of spirituality, history and prayer that revealed how God used Saint John Paul II, Saint Maximillian Kolbe, Saint Faustina, Our Lady of Fatima and the people of Poland to reveal His Divine Mercy. Whatever you chose, a life of a saint, a bible study or series, I am sure it will enrich your faith in some way. Open your heart and mind to the gift of our Catholic Faith.

We continue to journey as Pilgrims of Hope in the year 2025 – let us soak in the gift of our faith in these summer months.

Peace, joy and hope in Him,

Fr. Fred
