Dear Parishioners,
The Gospel this Sunday reminds us what it truly means to be a good steward. At the heart of stewardship is not money or possessions - it is love. Jesus does not condemn wealth itself, but He warns us that wealth without love is empty. Time and again, He calls us to be alert to the subtle ways money, power, pleasure and honor can blind us. They can tempt us to become self-reliant, self-protective and self-righteous.
A faithful steward, however, lives with humility, surrender, and trust. Stewardship begins with gratitude—recognizing that every talent, treasure and blessing is a gi from God. And every gift is meant to be cared for, shared generously and used for the glory of God.
This week we also celebrate a very special occasion: the Feast of Saint Padre Pio on Tue, Sep 23. To honor this great saint, the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit will join us for an evening of grace and healing. The celebratioon will include:
All are welcome to join in this powerful evening of prayer and renewal. We give special thanks to our local Padre Pio Prayer Group for their faithful devotion and support of our parish community. Please also take advantage of the many opportunies for prayer, learning, and fellowship here at St. Bernard of Clairvaux. Don’t forget that every parishioner has free access to FORMED, a wonderful digital platform with Catholic movies, Bible studies, audio talks, and e-books. It is an invaluable resource to help you and your family grow in faith throughout the week.
I encourage you to reflect deeply on this week’s Gospel: Am I being a good steward of my relationship with God and of the people He has placed in my life? Remember, the gift of kindness, forgiveness and love is greater than any material wealth. Choose people over possessions. Choose God over mammon. Serve Him first in prayer, in charity and in service to others. Be grateful and generous in your daily life.
May this week bring you peace, hope and renewed love in Christ.
Fr. Fred
