This week we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the early Church. Through the power of the Spirit, the message of Jesus moved from fear and silence behind locked doors to the bold proclamation that Jesus Christ is Lord. Pentecost is often called the "Birthday of the Church" because it is through the Holy Spirit that the Church comes alive and continues the mission of spreading the Good News to the world.
