Throughout these weeks of July, our Sunday Gospels invite us to become students of Jesus. Through His parables, He teaches us not only who God is but also who we are called to become. Each parable reveals something about the heart of God and gently challenges us to look honestly at the condition of our own hearts.

This weekend, our nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. While Independence Day is often marked by fireworks, parades, family gatherings and backyard barbecues, it also offers us an opportunity to reflect on a profound truth of the Christian life: are called to live as free citizens of a nation while remaining faithful disciples and joyful servants of God.
